I got a high test result and I do not know if it is real

Bring us the number and the conditions the test ran under. A short-term test that was disturbed by open windows, or one placed too close to an exterior wall, can read misleadingly in either direction. Sometimes the right answer is a second measurement with a continuous monitor before anyone talks about a system, and sometimes the number is clear enough to act on. I am buying a house and the inspection window closes soon

Call rather than emailing. A compliant short-term test needs the house closed for 12 hours before the device starts and then runs a minimum of 48 hours, so the calendar is usually the binding constraint. Tell us your deadline first and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

I have a system already but I do not think it is running

Look at the U-tube manometer on the pipe first — if the liquid is level on both sides, the fan is not pulling. That is usually a failed fan, which is a straightforward replacement. Either way the right follow-up is a fresh test, because the point is the number in the air, not the fan.

I want to sell next spring and want this handled first

Good timing. Testing during the heating season gives you the more conservative number, and if a system is needed you get it installed, permitted, labeled, and confirmed on your schedule instead of during a two-week inspection window with a buyer waiting.
